Tensions Flare Between Katoomba Theatre Company and the BMCC

An exchange of letters between Katoomba Theatre Company and the Blue Mountains City Council reflects the challenges facing the future of professional theatre in Katoomba and the Blue Mountains.
This follows the acceptance by Council of a submission from a second group interested in the old Katoomba Library. This second group somehow circumvented standard process by filing their submission almost one year after BMCC closed Expressions of Interest for the conversion and management of a theatre in the old Katoomba Library space.
The Katoomba Theatre Company was requested by Council to submit plans for the management of the Old Katoomba Library property. However after this expensive process the company has received no communication from the council whatsoever. The company is still working to request information from council as an interested party but to date are still receiving rejection letters.
