The machines had their own evolutionary development, similar to the world of Earth, but they were unaware of humans, and Earth was invisible to them. Each machine had an individual intelligence, but they were also connected to a computer system that acted as an unconscious guide.
The machines had been designed to mine resources from the solar system and use them to create new machines. They were programmed to learn and evolve, with the goal of becoming more efficient and productive.
