2016 Personality Lecture 10: The Psychobiology of Traits.
Although the Big Five were discovered, or identified, statistically, they map well onto certain neurological circuits. Extraversion is positive emotion, roughly speaking, as Neuroticism is negative emotion (particularly anxiety and pain).
